E-Learning Officer interview portfolio · concept prototype

From live workshop to lasting learning.

An end-to-end demonstration of how specialist workshop content can become accessible, interactive and maintainable asynchronous learning for doctoral researchers.

Why I built this: to demonstrate how I would support a multi-institutional graduate school by turning subject expertise into effective online learning—not by replacing it.

Independent prototype using fictional scenarios. No university branding, learner data or restricted material.

The role, interpreted

Not the academic author.
Not merely the uploader.

The Subject Matter Expert owns specialist accuracy. The E-Learning Officer creates the conditions in which that expertise becomes useful online: co-designing outcomes, planning capture, editing media, adding practice, assuring accessibility, publishing well and improving over time.

01 · Learner experience

Collaborate clearly across institutions

A compact, scenario-led micro-module for doctoral researchers working across organisational boundaries.

Step 1 of 4

One document. Several institutions. No confusion.

Cross-institution collaboration works best when everyone knows where the current version lives, who can access it and what must not be shared.

Learning outcome

Choose a proportionate, accessible sharing approach for a collaborative research document.

02 · Production view

The work behind the learning

The learner sees five minutes. The production record makes the resource accurate, accessible, findable and maintainable.

01

Need

Confirm audience, purpose and fit with the training programme.

02

Co-design

Agree outcomes, scope and responsibilities with the Subject Matter Expert.

03

Capture

Plan consent, slides, audio, interaction and recording conditions.

04

Transform

Edit, chunk and add practice, reflection and accessible alternatives.

05

Assure

Complete academic, technical, accessibility, copyright and style checks.

06

Publish

Add metadata, upload, test learner access and archive source files.

Governance and trust

Clear ownership protects learners, contributors and quality.

Every resource needs named accountability for academic accuracy, accessibility, permissions, confidentiality, publication and review. Welsh-language provision should be planned from the outset and reviewed by an appropriately fluent Welsh-language professional.

01

Respect permissions. Confirm consent, copyright, confidentiality and appropriate access before publication.

02

Name accountability. Record who owns academic accuracy, production, approval and future review.

03

Assure before publishing. Complete human academic, accessibility, language, editorial and technical checks.

Hello, I’m Hassan Raza Bukhari. This is a non-official proof of concept showing how I would transform a live workshop led by a Subject Matter Expert into accessible, reusable asynchronous learning.

I began with a content-capture brief: clarifying the doctoral audience, learning outcome, permissions, accessibility requirements and the respective responsibilities of the Training Lead, Subject Matter Expert and E-Learning Officer.

The learner experience is deliberately short. It combines a concise explanation, an applied permissions scenario, an accessible checklist, a knowledge check and a community prompt. The interaction has keyboard support, visible focus, clear feedback and a text-first alternative to media.

Behind the learner view is the production workflow: capture planning, editing, captions and transcript, academic review, accessibility and copyright assurance, LMS metadata, archive structure and a named review date.

Evaluation goes beyond completion. I would look at confidence, knowledge-check performance, learner feedback, application after two weeks and differences in experience across partner institutions.

The Subject Matter Expert retains responsibility for academic accuracy. The E-Learning Officer provides the learning-design, production, accessibility, publication and continuous-improvement expertise that turns specialist knowledge into an effective online resource.
